Difference between Earthing and Grounding?

Friends, if you do job or studying electrical engineering, then you must listen about earthing and grounding. Then maybe you think about what is grounding and earthing and what is the difference between grounding and earthing.

So today, first we will talk about what is earthing and grounding? Then we will talk that what difference between grounding and earthing.

Friends, keep remember that grounding and earthing are done in the same way. We do a pit in the earth. A wire comes out from this pit.

But where we are connecting this output wire, it will define that it is earthing or grounding.

What is Earthing?

In the earthing first we make a pit in the earth then we take an output wire from that pit, then we connect this wire with our electrical equipment body.

What is Earthing

This earthing wire is attached to the equipment whose body is made of metal because current flows easily on a body made of metal.

Need of Earthing: If the supply wire touches the equipment’s body, then that time current will flow in the ground with the help of our earthing wire. If anyone touches that equipment, he will not get an electrical shock.

What is grounding?

In the grounding same as earthing, we make a pit on earth then a wire comes out from that pit, but we don’t connect this wire with the equipment’s body.

What is grounding

In the grounding, we connect that wire with the supply’s neutral.

What is Difference Earthing and Grounding?

  • Earthing is used for our safety when we have an electrical fault. Grounding is used for the safety of electrical equipment when we have an electrical fault.

Earthing and Grounding Difference

  • In the earthing, We connect the earth and equipment’s body each other. But in the grounding, we connect neutral with the earth.
  • Mostly, black wire is used for the grounding and green wire is used for the earthing.
  • Earthing is used for safety from shock, but grounding is used to avoid unbalance situations.
  • Inside the grounding, the live part in which the current flows is connected to the ground. But the dead part is attached to the ground at the time of earthing. This means that part which is not in contact with current in normal condition.
